The magic in the garden

This is where it all starts...stinky and fabulous. We alternate between chicken manure and steer manure, and we ALWAYS add Worm Gold worm castings (worm poop, as my son will tell you). It really is gold for the garden! Our tomato plants grow up to 6 feet tall and we have this to thank for it. Stay tuned for more updates and pictures. Next up will be some information about the edible flower garden we are planting this year!

  1. How fun is this! I will keep my eye on your blog:) I've always wanted to be a gardener. I love to till the soil, weed and plant but after that I'm pretty much done!

  2. Oh, so excited to "meet" a gardener! Perhaps you could do a post on planting for a gardener dummy like me? I want to tear out the weeds in the front of our rental home and plant a 3x10 area with lavendar or something equally low maintenance but pretty. I'm excited to learn from you. Sorry to bombard you with a request so soon! :)

  3. Oooh, so fun to get to think about planting in someone else's space. A whole fresh canvas! I'll put some thought into it. In the meantime, Tracy at http://lovingprettythings.blogspot.com just posted about her gorgeous lavender at her house. She has a similar space, perhaps a not as deep, and she's planted some roses in the back with a HEDGE of lavender in the front. I've never seen anything like that, but I love it! She planted lots of lavender plants close together and then as they grew up and into each other, she trimmed it into a square-ish hedge that blooms every year and smells amazing. I'll think on it some more, as well...

  4. Hi Nikki, I am enjoying your blog. I have a substantial garden... shrubs, perennials and ornamentals. This year I am promising my kids a little pea patch. We live in the Seattle area, so far away from SoCal. But I hope to gleen some tips from you. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
